Away from it all
We were really scrabbling for a place to stay this night, almost ready to do the Walmart bit. There are precious few campgrounds in this part of the country. I called the campground to see if they were open and they said that they usually aren't open except on weekends at this time of the year, but that they would be glad to let us in (there is a gate) if we wanted to camp. We did.
We followed the directions on the website (VERY important to do that and to NOT rely on your GPS -- it will get you in trouble) and called again when we arrived. The owner came over, checked us in and let us in. The family has done a fabulous job of creating flat sites in a very hilly area. It is heavily wooded with lots of mature trees. The road and sites are gravel. The bathroom are okay but not exceptional. They have a lot of activities on the weekends after Labor Day. While there is wifi, the wifi only works close to the office. We didn't see the pool; it was in a different area of the park.
We thank them very much for giving us a home for the night.
Only open on weekends after Labor Day.
