Not Great

This could be a very nice campground. The sites are level. The people are nice. They have a nice pool and a fish pond (catch & release - no license required) with a park bench and several picnic tables so you can watch the ducks, frogs and turtles. BUT...the roads are narrow and not maintained. There are huge potholes that fill up with muddy water when it rains, and there are a lot of permanent and seasonal residents who don't keep their RVs or their sites clean. Not worth the price, even with Passport America. We won't be coming back.

Wet, swampy, wonderful location

Lake Aire was exactly where I needed to be with exellent access to Charleston and the surrounding area. The park is easy to get in and out of (for a new comer to this sort of thing) and it feels like you're out in the country. It's the lowlands and while i was there it rained a lot. There was a great deal of standing water and deep black mud. They must do some mosquito control because they weren't much of a problem. There's a train track nearby and I could hear frequent trains.

The sites are pretty close together, level, and very easy to get in and out of. The grounds are well maintained with all the dirveways and the sites well graveled so you track a minimum of mud into your RV.

I hope to stay there again next year if i visit Charleston.

Not much fun

Initial impression: Awful! Roads are not paved and there is no gravel except in the entrance area. It is all grass and dirt. With all the rain, this means that everything is all MUD. There are also a lot of puddles, harvesting mosquitoes. Because of this, it is very difficult to go outside, even just to the truck which is parked directly in front of the RV without sloshing in mud. We were lucky to get a pull thru space. Lot sizes were fairly large. There were picnic tables and fire pits at each site. Our table was completely warped and moldy - unusable unless we put a cover on both the table and the seats. There appear to be a number of permanent residents who live in small trailers which don't appear to be in very good shape (ratty, beaten up looking). The person in the office was helpful and friendly and their literature includes a lot of touristy things to do in the area. It was about a 20 min. drive to downtown Charleston. I did not have the chance to check out the showers or laundry. The weather did not allow use of the pool, but it was a very small one. There was a nice pond but we could not walk there due to the mud and puddles. Wifi signal was horrendous. I would only stay here if I was desperate, and not long term.

made to leave after husband was sexually harassed by their employee

my HUSBAND WAS SEXUALLY HARASSED by a blonde haired lady that works in the office NAMED TARA (which in my opinion isn't even pretty) that WORKS AT LAKE AIRE CAMPGROUND. we went to the owners about it but they said they couldn't fire her because they didn't have anybody else to work in the office. WE WERE STALKED BY HER for 2 days. the owners even said they have it on video her being "overly friendly" to guys that would come into the office but they still did nothing to her. what was done is that WE were told WE HAD TO LEAVE TONIGHT or be arrested for tresspassing. they claim that we were going around telling people that stay in the campground when we didn't but truthfully other people heard her make the sexual advance towards my husband (other than me) EVEN CHILDREN but they made us out to be the trouble makers even though we were the ones being HARASSED by THEIR EMPLOYEE!! we didn't do nothing wrong I didn't put my hands on her or fuss/cuss her out like I probably should have. so we had to pack up us, 3 kids and 2 dogs in a couple of hours so I wouldn't go to jail for tresspassing instead of them DOING THEIR JOB AND FIRING THAT EMPLOYEE!!! THE OWNERS NEED TO LEARN HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS THE RIGHT WAY & NOT LET SEXUAL HARASSMENT BE TOLERATED BY ANYBODY ESPECIALLY THEIR OWN EMPLOYEE!!

Average CG

This place is typical of the area, and is convenient to downtown Charleston. Overpriced, but at $25 with PPA, it's about right. Would stay here again.

Nice park

Very nice people, and nice park. Close to Charleston, Walmart is only 6 miles away. Fishing pond is fished very heavily, got to REALLY work for a fish. Stayed a week an I enjoyed it. RV sites are pretty close to each other, makes it kinda crowded when busy
