Overnighter

Gravel, somewhat confusing lay-out at some sites... Thought ours was a back-in from looks of site but was a pull-thru... Decent lobby area... Indoor pool... Limo service to The Big Texan (we ate there when we were in Amarillo years ago, but passed this time bc of pending severe weather with possibility of tornadoes... Not sure if this place has a storm shelter or not... Was very windy when we checked in but no mention of it)... It's an ok place to overnight but I'd be tempted to try another place next time

Great stopover park

If you are traveling through Amarillo, this is a great park on the east side of town. Close to Palo Duro Canyon and the Big Texan (Free limo service).
Ten miles east of the Cadillac Ranch, 17 miles of the Bug Farm. Home of the Quarter Horse Museum, Jack Sizemore Traveland RV Museum and many other sites.
All sites are spacious, big rig friendly, pull through with full hookups. Cable TV offers 95 channels. Two fenced in dog runs and a large open space for leashed pets. Heated indoor pool, free coffee and doughnuts in the morning.
Easy access off Exit 74 on I-40.

Amarillo RV Ranch is the busiest RV park we’ve been at since we hit the road. There were people checking in from morning till evening. Amarillo is definitely a crossroads for a lot of people and they’re all staying at this park, us included! Although we didn’t find a ton to do in Amarillo this park offered a great opportunity to catch up on day to day stuff. And, huge perk.. they have phenomenal internet service and great cable. Which means we got to catch up on some tv time (like the last 5 episodes of Raising Hope.. so funny!) and didn’t even feel guilty about it because it was super duper windy and there wasn’t much to do in town anyway!

The park itself is a flat grassy/dirt park, all spots are pull through, the clubhouse has a big indoor pool, the laundry facilities were great, and the front desk volunteers were extremely friendly. If you have kids, the waterpark (in above photo) is about ten steps out the front gate. The bathrooms were large with the largest individual shower stalls thus far, so nice not to turn around and not hit the wall of the shower..it’s the little things! Another bonus, they take Passport America (for two nights) and we think other club discounts as well, but we have Passport so we didn’t ask further that that. We would definitely stop here again if we pass through the Texas Panhandle. Clark & ellen give it a paws up!

Halloween Camping

We spent Halloween night at the Amarillo RV Ranch. It was nicely kept up, if in a neighborhood that is not so much.

Bathrooms were small and cold, the water was hot. Not only did they have a decent playground and an outdoor pool, they also had an indoor pool and hot tub. Can't beat swimming on Halloween!

Dump station, lots of full hook-ups with pull-throughs. Have laundry, but we didn't check it out. Very nice "camp store." Free coffee and pastries at the the store in the morning. Nice place for dog owners too. In the middle of Amarillo, minutes from the Big Texan (you can even get free limo service there and back).

The staff were lots of retirees fawned over some of our boys.
Next to I-40, a train track also goes by a couple miles away. Using our Passport America Card we paid $16.50 for the first night. This is only good for the first night.
