Discrimination and Disrespect
One of the worst places I've stayed and here is why...
First, the good: the Lonesome Dove is a quiet place, with many of the sites having trees for shade, something you really want in hot southern TX. There are some permanent residents here who are really nice and the owners, when they are here for the winter, have a potluck every week in which they provide the meat. This is the reason I am giving it the three stars it got. It has a decent rec room, with a pool table and TV, a laundry room, baths and showers. Unfortunately, I encountered some serious problems here as well.
Now the bad: There is a two nice porches, one at the front leading to the manager s office, the other on the side leading to the bath/laundry room. These are nice shady places to hang out...IF YOU SMOKE. Unfortunately, if you are like me and a lot of other people, you won t be able to enjoy the porches and may experience some discomfort trying to get into the bathrooms or office. Secondly, the bathrooms and showers are off the luandry room, which is incredibly hot and often full of fragrance from laundry users, so you roast in the bathroom. The worst part, however, was the management. The husband of the managing couple continuously harrassed me to clean up after myself, in spite of the fact that I am very clean and responsible and never once left a mess. He also spoke rudely to me on several occasions, treating me like a child. His treatment of me made me very uncomfortable and greatly diminshed my ability to enjoy the facilities. I would not go back there as long as he is still in charge.
