Great place
We visited in December. The town of Nornamgee is up and coming, several cute stores. If you are in the market for windchimes go to the farm/feed store (best prices for the biggest chimes around). If you want an excellent burger be sure and stop in to Becki's Cottage and Soda Fountain. The only downside is the goat head stickers. As long as you keep you shoes on, have good floor mats and no dogs I think it's great. Also easy drive to College Station if ya want to visit Aggieland or The George Bush Library. An added plus for deer watchers, the place is full of them.
Part-time Quiet, Part time Peaceful
Stayed there for a few weeks, was super quiet during week, weekends not so! Hunters came in and it was nothing more than a deer camp, with late night huge campfires, night lite night loud talking, beer cans everywhere, restrooms and showers left in a mess. Grass burrs cover the grounds, pets can't walk anywhere except on roads, everyone drives very fast, including security.
