Convenient to Bike Trail and golf
We've stayed here a couple of weekends the past year - have really enjoyed the facilities and the close proximity to the Riverwalk bike trail that runs all the way into the city and south to the missions. There's a municipal golf course right next door as well. We've had breakfast in their cafeteria - no frills but good food. The staff is friendly and its always clean. Only negatives are the neighborhood - its a little sketchy and they warn you to lock everything up at night.
Great Location for San Antonio River Walk
This park is very well maintained and pretty, once inside the grounds. It looks a bit dated but has some tall shade trees and 50amp service. It's not the best surrounding neighborhood outside the park , but it does feel safe and it's close to downtown San Antonio (5 mi). It has a trailhead right at the park, to the River trail system, which are well maintained trails that run along the river with picnic tables, parks and kayak access. The laundry facility is nice, with 8 washers and 8 dryers which are inexpensive ($1.25). It has good cable, a chlorine pool and jacuzzi with nice chairs, lounges and umbrellas, a huge hall, a nice sized fenced dog park and a nice playground for the kiddos. The office has some good supplies available.
There are a few downsides like they have quite a few old broken down junky trailers around which bring the place down a bit, too. The outbuildings are in pretty bad shape on the outside. But overall I give the place 4 stars because the facility is above average and a great base to explore San Antonio. There is even a very convenient bus (42) that picks up right in front and takes you downtown and back for $2.75 for an all day pass.
The wifi is Tengo, which is spotty and they limit you to 2 devices which is silly. We would return and recommend to friends. The lady in the office has worked here for 25 years and is fantastic and full of helpful info and coupons.
They offer a Good Sam and AAA discount. We paid $118 for 3 nights after tax and our discount.
Clean Park Good Location
Big shady sites, clean rest rooms, nice pool. Very Convinient to riverwalk trail.
Very nice park
A very nice park. Level sites with good access. Helpful staff. Park is kept very clean and tidy. Great access to the hike/bike trail along the San Antonio River. Definitely would stay again.
Great spot!!
It's close to SA and the Missions and the sites are spacious and the facilities excellent.
NOISY
Trains ran by day and night blowing their whistles continually. The park had nice gravel pads and there were electrical wires hanging all over the park. It's in a "seedy" part of town so I wouldn't want to walk outside the park. Overall we would never go back.
An oasis !
We stayed here 2 nights while visiting San Antonio. I was really surprised how nice the park was for being so centrally located to the area. Usually locations like this are noisy, run down, or dirty.
Not so this park ! Very clean, paved roads, nice spaces, trees abound! Pool, laundry and a dog play area are close, and all are very clean, We had a pull thru, long enough for our 38 foot RV with toad. Level gravel spaces with concrete pads next to them.
Friendly people operate park. They have a large store inside the office. Ice and Propane are available. Very centrally located to all attractions, and other necessities. I had to acquire a power drill, (forgot mine at home), there was a Home Depot about 4 miles away. and a Best Buy where I purchased a DVD player, and a CVS, and a Pep Boys.. well you get it. You don't have to drive far to get hold of anything.
The park is quiet during the day and evening. And the Alamo is close and a couple of old Spanish missions.
We loved the park, and would definitely recommend it to others, and stay there again if we head that way. They are a Good Sam member.
Clean & convenient to downtown San Antonio and missions
This park is an oasis three miles from downtown San Antonio. Granted the surrounding neighborhood looks sketchy, but once you are parked in your site, the park is clean and well maintained.
The park is directly on the city bus line. Buses north into downtown or south toward Mission San Jose and Walmart run every half hour. Very convenient.
We were in a back-in site in a 5th wheel.
Nice and clean
Very nice park! Very clean! They have very high water pressure, and our pressure regulator quit working. Got one from Walmart that near by and it didn't last on day. They do sell them there at the RV office. Will go back to this park again. Nice clean pool! The pool was nice to cool off in on the hot days that they where having during our stay.
We would not stay here again
It was clean and right in the city, but the area of town seemed sketchy and we were warned about keeping stuff locked up at the park. Clean bathrooms and laundry. Great play areas for the kids. We stayed there only one night and got out.
