Flies flies and more flies

This park is fairly well kept on first impression. It has some nice ammenities, though I felt it was overpriced for what you get. We paid for a full service site, and though they had other sites available, they put us right next to the dumpsters and where people let their dogs potty and don't pick up. The flies were HORRIBLE. There are quite a few permanent residents, and very very few people traveling through, so a lot of the sites look worn and ugly. The lawn looks like it hasn't been mowed recently, and the smell of manure is ripe the minute you walk out of your RV. There are horses next door. I wouldn't stay here again. EVER.

One of the best RV parks in Alaska

It is very uncommon to find an RV park in Alaska that has electric hookups, much less cable and sewer and water and a dump site.

This is a great place to stay after you've stayed in Tok, Alaska on your way south from the Alaska Highway or on your way back up the Alaska Highway after visiting Anchorage and the Valley.

Each site is just a parking spot with gravel, but they are level and kept very clean. Parking spaces can be a little close but there's enough to put out your slides. Picnic tables and small patch of grass for each parking spot.

This is a rare gem for us alaskans. They also have a cafe with great food. Especially their brownie pie with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. Yum!

Great dog walk trail where you can walk up to the bluff and see views of the Matanuska Glacier. 2,100 feet elevation, so air is crisp and dry.

Showers and laundry, though I did not use them. The RV park has one group of 50 amp spots they call Grand Premium, with sewer and water. Another group called Deluxe of 30 amp with elec and water. There are also a standard tent and grand tent area.

Small amount of road noise from big rigs coming off Alaska highway exists but didn't really bother us that much.

They also have cabins called Tundra Rose cabins.

Showers are $2.75 for 8 minutes. Additional minutes added for .25 per minute. Laundry is $2.00 wash, 2.00 dry.

Park is open until September 12th in 2010.

Wifi is really strong when it is up. It went down momentarily every once in awhile, but it is tolerable.

Horseshoes area down the hill. Walk to the bluff is breathtaking, with views of Mount Wickersham, Matanuska Glacier, and caribou and matanuska rivers.

Everyone at the cafe is so polite and helpful. Call ahead for reservations, as this place would fill up fast because of its amenities that you just don't find in Alaska. (especially sewer and cable and running water)

From the brochure:
Dall Sheep can be viewed 360 degrees from our park, but are best viewed on Sheep Mountain to the north. 25,000 acres make up the sheep reserve, where ewes, lambs and world class rams are protected. Get out your binoculars, set out the lawn chairs and enjoy the Grand View!

This was a wonderful stop to get away from the annoying rain we had all summer this year. Great sun, clear skies, and dry air.
