This was our 1st adventure at camping at Disney's huge camping venue. Our site was full service, Water, Electric, Sewer and Cable TV. This is the perfect time to visit Disney, Florida is wonderful and cool this time of year, and the 4 Disney Park are empty, the only venue in any of the parks with a line longer than 10 minutes was Pixel Studios in Disney's Hollywood park.
Access to the parks from Fort Wilderness is via water taxi or Monorail To Epcot and Disney World. The other parks its a bus ride.
The fire works at Disney World start at 8PM and Epcot @ 9PM, both can be seen and heard from Fort Wilderness' beach area.
Your parking pass can be used in any parking lot on the same day you check out of the campground. This was great since we purchased the Florida Residents 3 parks for $99.00. We visited all parks with no weather heat issues, no crowd issues and with plenty of time to the two of us to enjoy our 1st trip to Disney World with no children in tow.
The only thing that was strange was the upgraded camping sites we were promised when we rejected our first assign site, due to construction in the rest rooms. We were told we were receiving a free upgrade to a better site, that simply was not true, we reserved a full featured site and thats where they re-assigned us. An upgraded site would have been near the beach area, this is not where we were.
This State Preserve is huge and beautiful, from the sunrise in the east, the sunset in the west and as the sky fills with 1000's of stars you will enjoy the peace of camping here. This is an adult camping place, I say this because there is not a lot for children to do after the 1st day of riding their bike until they drop. Adults will love the quiet and beauty that clear night skies bring with there is no light interference from any close cities. The many birds and animals in the wild you can see as you ride your mountain bike miles, on dirt trails to the Kissimmee River, the 1st major waterway into the Everglades. The winter stays are warm in the day and campfire invitely cool at night, no bugs to "Bug" you, and no street traffic to drown out the night sounds. BUT, This is not a place to camp in the summer, The heat will knock you down and the bugs will carry you off.
We have camped here maybe 6 times; with our pop-up and now our RV. So either way of camping is great.
Enjoy ....
In late October of 2011,I was traveling to visit the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Angel Fire, NM. As it became evening it began to snow as I traveled on I-25 East of Santa Fe. The longer I drove the harder it snowed and the darker it was getting. I pulled off the road and used my RVparking.com app on my Iphone and located the KOA in Las Vegas, NM. I called the KOA's number it was getting late BUT they answered and provided me a spot, that was not under trees. I was concerned about ice and snow falling on the RV. As I traveled North I was having difficulty locating the KOA' exit because of the heavy snow. So I called them again and they guided me right to my camping spot. While I did not get to use any of the KOA's facilities, I did stay safe and warm that night. I have posted pixs of the snow on the RV and the mirror so you can see the depth of the snowfall that night. The staff of this KOA was very helpful and the camping spot was perfect. I will stay here again when I travel to Angel Fire to ski next year.
Fall Stay in this State Park near I-40 outside Nashville, TN
Very nice park located on the east side of Nashville, TN South of I-40. No reservations are currently taken so it's first come first serve... Sites have 50 amp and 30 amp. No sites are both, so insure you check this out. Park full of beautiful Cedar trees. The parks EL is 612ft and the 10 year average temp 81 by day, and 62 degrees by night.
We spent 3 nights and 4 days at this excellent and history rich state park, about 50 miles east of Key West. We have camped here many times, first in an 10x13 tent, then a large Coleman Pop-up and now in our RV. While the bugs will get the best of you if you are not prepared, the beaches and history make it worth the trip.
The best beach is bike riding distance from the primary RV camp ground, I have posted pictures of that beach.... The other beach "Sandspur" is around 2.0 miles away. So, unless you want to drag your beach stuff those 2 miles it may be best to drive.
There is a Non-RV camping area also called "Sandspur" very close to the 2nd eastern beach. This camping area, with Site #72 the best camp site in all of Florida, you can use pop-up trailers and regular trailers less than 8 feet overall lenght. Tent Camping in this area is typical BUT the bugs will carry U away if you are not prepared.
Beautiful beach front camping ground in the middle Florida Keys.
This State park is wonderful... Every site is water front and on the Atlantic Ocean. Camp is well maintained and has individual ocean front fire rings. The "No See Em" can be very frustrating in the early evening ( the reason for only 4 stars)during the summer months. The camp ground allows you to witness ocean sunrises in front of your campsite in the AM. Then watch the ocean sunsets from the backside of your camp site. The lower numbered campsites are the best. Kayak rental is on-site, fishing directly from your camp site, and sandbar relaxation at low tide is so relaxing. Where else can you get a vacation spot water front in the Florida Keys for $43.00 per night, plus tax ?
Park is located on a wonderful family beach, near the historic city of Cocoa Beach, where many of the streets are names after America's 1st astronauts. Park is older and needs upgrading but the price is right, the campground is easily to get to via FL 520 or 528. Many memories of shuttle launches observed from the jetty fishing pier. Come on and enjoy the 1970s of Cocoa and surround areas.
We have stayed in this campground more times than can be counted. 1st in our Coleman pop-up over 6 years now in our RV.
Riding your bikes to the beach or to breakfast @ the Sanibel Cafe, this camp ground is in the center of everything on the island. The bird farm is so fun, the camping spots are excellent and the price beats the very expensive hotels all around.
Tent camping can be very warm in the summer months but no problem in an RV or trailer.
The 4th of July parade is so much fun and very small town. Campground does not take credit cards so bring cash or check and enjoy. Off season rates start on June 1
Nice flat campground with weak ATT cell service and weak free WiFi. Functional campground with no mountain flavor & very few trees, and few planted for the future. No Smoky Mountain charm at all. Great park for those whom are working in the area, not for families wanting to experience the Great Smoky Mountains. Go closer to Townsend, TN to get the real feel of mountain camping.
