Winter Island is one of the best places I have ever parked my RV.if you are lucky enough to get a waterfront space, it's amazing and beautiful. No full hook ups, and you may need an extension cord for your power, but an unbeatable location. It used to be a US Coast guard facility. Lots of room to maneuver for big coaches.
We were excited to visit this park and we had high expectations. As we pulled into the park one could not help but notice the stylish & modern rental cabins, but things went downhill from there. After checking in, the RV grounds were poorly maintained and laid out. Pulling into our "pull through" site was challenging - it took several attempts. The lawn was in poor shape. The campground, however, is in a very nice location; just a couple miles from Teton Village. There are fabulous bike trails and a couple of cute restaurants close by with beautiful scenery. It was also notable the number of very high-end coaches that were visiting the campground also. Of all the campgrounds we visited this summer, this was the busiest and with the most high-end RV's. Please note, this campground only has 30 amp service.
Great views available for sites 1-6 in the lower level and along the bluff facing Yellowstone Park in the upper level. Make sure to request one of those sites. Management was not extremely friendly or customer-service oriented. Dumpy ambience & environment. Very conveniently located which is perhaps it's best feature.:)
