I stayed here twice-- once up the 95, the next down the 95-- and appreciated this park both times. I checked in a bit late both nights and there was still someone there to help. Check-in was efficient. Site was nice, a basic pull-thru, nicely landscaped. My favorite thing about this park actually is the brewery across the street that makes great craft beer, so you can park and walk across the street for a nice flight of beers.
I stayed here for a few weeks while I had business in New York. On the plus side, it feels very safe and has good access to the PATH train to Manhattan (as well as the ferry to Wall Street). Negatives are that it's just a parking lot (no charm at all, though the marina next door is a nice touch), and the wifi is next to useless. Also, there is no sewer hookup so you have to use the honeywagon ($20) if you're going to be around for longer than a few days. But the location is good, so if you need to be in the city with an RV this is where you're going to go, and in the end RVers are lucky this is here (I just wish they would make it prettier but I guess the logic is that beggars can't be choosers).
I used the park showers and they were fine-- a bit mildewy on the ceiling but other than that acceptable.
There aren't very many parks on this stretch of the I-10 and this is one of the few options, so I stopped here. This is pretty much the opposite of one of the fancy RV resorts (no amenities to speak of, roughly maintained road/pull-thrus) but the price of $20 is commensurate with the basicness of the park and while not fancy, it was perfectly fine for an overnight. The area around is interesting-- marshy rural land with some interesting Cajun restaurants about 10 miles away in Jennings. I liked the pond next to the park-- could be fixed it up to be pretty cool.
Stay Away - Horrible Vibes, Something is Very Wrong
Horrifically bad service, like so bad that I wondered if it was some kind of TV show or something. When I walked in to register, the clerk said snottily, "It's going to be $100" as if I couldn't afford it (meanwhile my $100,000 rig is clearly visible through the window). However, online I had seen people saying the price was $88, so I said so, and she jumped down my throat. All she had to do was nicely say, "we raised our prices and it's $100." But she gave no explanation, and I started getting a bad vibe about the place, like perhaps she had just decided personally that day to charge me $100. It got worse from there. She started asking me for information, and when she got to the point where she's asking the year of my Airstream I was like, "that's it, you don't need to know the year, it is brand new and you can see it right outside." She became extremely rude at this point, to the point where I wondered if it was even safe to stay there. I told her that I was very disturbed by her overtly mean, haughty tone to a customer. She didn't apologize but kept speaking very caustically to me. I left and went to a different park and was very glad I did. Go here at your own peril.
With a TX State Parks pass my pull-through campsite at Balmorhea State Park was only $12, which is a steal. The park is pretty, with views of mountains and a small marsh. It gets quite hot in the daytime but the natural pool next to the campground is available for swimming. Bring your own food because there's nothing in walking distance.
This is a beautiful, well-priced park. For $27 (with Good Sam rate), you get trees, a view of lovely mountains and desert, no city eyesores, and a very well-kept and nicely-serviced park. I was going to drive another hour but stopped here because the park is so nice. Much better than more expensive parks in cities where you pay more to park with no landscaping or view.
Very tidy resort. Spaces plain but are perfectly graded and wider than usual. Hookups and amenities are brand new. I appreciate the wooden slat screen between sites, so you have privacy. Conveniently located off the freeway, but close to Old Mesilla, which is a cool vintage part of town. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Las Cruces.
Great views. Showers and bathrooms are modern and cool-looking (very Marfa). When I was here only a couple other rigs passed through so I had the place to myself. Close to town but slight removed, which makes it very peaceful. Moonlight is amazing.
I arrived after dark and was very relieved to find Jamaica Beach RV park after quickly leaving a different park that had no lights on and felt scary. This place was the opposite of scary, like entering a cute Disneyland of an RV park! The layout is super crisp and fresh, with concrete pads and pretty palm trees and a tropical vibe. At night there are just enough lights to guide the way and make it feel safe without being too bright. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The mini golf park is cute, and there is pond and pool and hot tub, all very clean. Best of all, the beach is across the street. As a bonus, there is also a delicious shrimp food truck that parks down the street-- eat there!
Very cute park. I picked this one so as to be as close to the beach as possible, and was pleasantly surprised at the proximity--- a short walk down a sandy road and you're on a huge expanse of beach. The park is very friendly, with lots of attention to detail. It is an older park so it is smaller and spots are pretty close together. I realized later that there are quite a few parks with good beach access, so you don't need to stay here to be right on the beach, but this is a good choice if you want to be near the beach and also near Port Aransas.
