One of the best RV campgrounds around!

From very friendly owners to exceptionally clean grounds and buildings, this campground earns my highest rating. Todd (owner) is very approachable, friendly, and really tries to make sure your stay is as good as it can be. This is a family-owned campground that has been passed down from generation to generation, and the pride shows all around. Bathrooms were very clean, indoor gaming room was spotless, the playgrounds (yes, there are 2) have a lot of fun things for the kiddos, and there are even activities for adults, such as golf, ladder ball, horseshoes, paddle boats, recumbent bikes, pool table, air hockey, ping pong, etc. Also, just a 5 minute drive to downtown Detroit Lakes and beach area. So, easy access to all the services without the traffic and noise.

WIFI was a bit wonky at times during our stay, but talking with management, they said they noticed issues too just recently, and were going to have their ISP look into the issue. So probably just a short-term issue, but like what's recommended for virtually all campgrounds, if internet access is vital to you, bring your own connection along.

I highly recommend this campground. You would be hard-pressed to find a cleaner, nicer campground in the DL area.

Peaceful and Beautiful

Right next the St. Lewis river, this is a peaceful place to relax. There are many sites right along the river. Stayed here for one full week. Close access to downtown Duluth was nice, as well as laundry services just down the road.

While they advertise being right across the street from a city park (which they are), the city park is nothing more than a shelter and a small swingset. The park itself is quite run down as well. There's nothing in that park that will entertain the kids for very long. Would be nice to see some playground equipment for the kids be installed in the campground itself. There is currently just a single horse shoe pit.

For $30/night for W/E, I would expect a few more amenities, like a playground for the kids, or even a vending machine or two. There is free WIFI, which is a plus.

I would recommend this campground to others looking for a peaceful and beautiful campground - just bring your own games and entertainment.

Nice and clean campground

Although we visited after the summer vacation season, and therefore the artificial swimming pond had been shut down for the year, we still very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly, and the sites were very clean and kept up. The trails we hiked were wide and well maintained as well. The kids had fun at the camp fire story event put on by the park naturalist. Will be back for sure next summer.
