Okay Place

I don't understand all the rave reviews. This place is just okay. The RV pads are weird. They are 2 strips of cement with grass in the middle. We couldn't get our 5th wheel landing gear lined up with the concrete, so one of the jacks had to be in the soft grass. We noticed that someone cut long boards to span the concrete for the class A's, but no one offered us one. This place has lots of grass, but whoever mows does not clean up the cut grass. Our site had scads of dry grass everywhere. We were not allowed to have a door mat per management, so all this dry grass got tracked into our RV. It was especially frustrating in the morning when there was dew. Dried grass covered our feet and our dogs feet. The dog park area was unusable for our 50 lb dogs. The fenced pens are so tiny that you can't throw a ball or frisbee. Management allows people to leave their dogs in the pens, which is completely inappropriate. The indoor pool was nicely done, but it's very, very small and was always filled with children. The wifi was spotty and there was no cable. We were able to pick up plenty of channels with our antenna. All in all this was a good one night stop and does not deserve the high rating it gets with Good Sam.

Interesting History

The history of this park is very interesting. There are plenty of easy hiking trails with lots to see. The RV part of the park was adequate for a night or two. We had a pull thru with 50 amp, water, and sewer. No wifi or cable. The sites are jammed together tightly under tall trees. The trees were the best part, but navigating through them with a big rig would be a little challenging. Our site was long, but very narrow. There was barely space for our picnic table which was positioned right next to our neighbors sewer. Yuck. Some of the other sites had a little more space, but locals stake them out early. This park does not take reservations, but when we were there at the end of August, it was surprisingly full. This park is very popular for birthday parties and tailgating football games.

Modern Amenities

We stayed in a back in site with 50 amp, water, sewer, and wifi. This park has a few pull thru's but they are water and electric only. This park still feels new. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but the newly planted trees are still not tall enough to provide much shade. We visited the park in late August. It was very hot and there were few visitors. We were in site 5 which luckily was shady with a nice long, paved pad. We rented a canoe and checked out the reservoir which was green and dirty looking. We drove over to the swimming beach and the water was greenish there as well. We were warned about alligators, but did not see any. There were plenty of herons and egrets though. Overall, a very pretty park with nice looking facilities.
