Sunny emotional

Just returned from a weekend at Enchanted Acres (July '12) and had a great time. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful although the facilities could use some updating. We camped in the very private area across the road from the main campsite. We had electricity, water, a fire pit, and a table with a hole in it that looked like someone maybe threw a horseshoe through it. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer stump grinding here but we didn't think it was affordable so we passed on that. We had lots of grassy areas to set up our tents and the campground sold us the wood for a very nice fire that evening.

In the morning we heard this shrieking cackling sound that really freaked us out....not like a kid playing a prank but a well-thought out well-executed cackling sound. But then we discovered that the sound was coming from a rooster at the petting zoo. Boy were we relieved. So we headed out for the canoe trip and ran into the pimps and ho's welcome group at the launch. We were impressed by this very kind gesture by the campground staff to make us city folk feel right at home. They even moved our truck for us so after our 4 hour trip down the river we just climbed in and drove back to the campsite.

It was a special weekend for us, we wanted it to be perfect, because it was the last time our group would ever be together again because.....because.....we'll I can't remember why but that's what we decided I guess, but if we ever decide to go camping and canoeing again it will definitely be at Enchanted Acres.
