Had never been to Pismo, had only heard about it over the years. We recently go a new 4 wheel drive vehicle and wanted to give it a try. We were plesantly surprised! The camping at night is wonderful with bon fires and the surf crashing all night long. Quiet sleeping for the most part until the motorcycles start up at 8:00 AM. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. There are folks that will come to your camper and pump out your gray/black tanks for a nominal fee and fill up your fresh water. Bring stakes and yellow tape to mark off your own camp area. You'll also want to lower the pressure in your tires so you don't get stuck (don't worry there is someone there to pump them pack up on your way off the beach).
