Panorama Views From This Jewel

Fort Flagler is a bit out of the way, but well worth the journey. The campground itself is open with little or no privacy, but you are surrounded by the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer. To the east you can see the Olympic Mountains, due north is the charming town of Port Townsend, west across Puget Sound is Whidbey Island and Mt. Baker. The ferry goes by frequently, but is quiet. There are some beachfront sites, and they are spaced well so you don't feel cramped. It is a glorious campground.

Fort Casey is The Jewel of Whidbey Island

Although basically a parking lot for RVs, what a glorious parking lot it is! From some of the sites you can open your door and step right out to your very own beach. You can see both sunrises and sunsets and watch the ferry venture back and forth across the sound. There are trails up to the old fortifications, and the lighthouse. It is a gem of a campground! I understand the campground will be refurbished with some hookups soon.
