Crowdy, but fun activities
Plenty of facilities, beautiful pools. The activities are various: bingo, mini golf, DJ's and more! But, when the camping is full, there s too many people. Also too many carts driving around. Price is fair.
Best in Virginia Beach
Very polite and helpful staff, clean facilities, great location, shuttle bus to Beachfront, terrific cafe on site, other great amenities. I have stayed here a few times in a 45' motorhome and never worried about access in and out.
Great place, very friendly staff
We stayed here on two separate weekends in November and had a great time. The Super Sites are fantastic, paved with a huge picnic table and fire pit. The restrooms were clean and the staff was working hard to clean the grounds of leaves. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it was off season so the pools were closed and no other activities were going on but the kids had a great time just exploring and riding their bikes.
Not kept up
The area is flat, but there has been no attempt to level the sites which are made up of rutted dirt and dead grass. The bathrooms are beautiful but not regularly cleaned. Mine had some feces on one of the seats and trash in a shower for more than two days. The exhaust vent was covered with grey dust. All this while they were painting an outside fence to sort of look like bamboo - a clean bathroom is more important.
They have it set up like the airlines where everything is a la carte - which is an interesting concept and a good way for people to save money. One has a choice of a campsite with electric, campsite with electric and water, campsite with electric, water and sewer. Cable is avaialble in another area. Each option seems to add about $5. WiFi is $5 per day. Down the street at the KOA, a place with all these items included is about the same price for everything here.
A huge advantage is that this campground has their own parking lot in downtown Virginia Beach, two blocks from the boardwalk.
The pool was open in early October on a sunny 80 degree day, which is commendable.
No matter what any other reviews say, the jets from the nearby base ARE noisy, but that is true here everywhere.
Addendum: After four requests over three different days, they did finally clean the restrooms. We were rewarded with what appears to be chewing tobacco spit near our camper door.
Love it great place lots to do nice sites private parking lot at beach overall great place stay there many times can not say enough about the place
