Mostly seasonal and young weekenders

We enjoyed the area. If you pull a boat then this is a great spot. We were on the on the only concrete sight that has not been leased or bought

Clean and Shaded

The host has kind of a dry and plain sounding voice, so she might sound rude over the phone. Don’t let that put you off. She is very nice in person and has a wonderful sense of humor. This campground is mostly seasonal. They do have 30 “transit” sites for non-seasonal campers. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table and lots of shade trees. Our site was also very level. We had plenty of room to maneuver and back up into the site. The bath house near us was very large and clean. There were 4 sinks, each with outlets, 5 toilet stalls and 4 shower stalls. The showers are a bit crazy. They are timed, so you have to keep pushing the button to turn it back on again and they spray everywhere. Make sure you have all your items up on the bench and nothing sitting on the floor because the floor gets soaked outside of the shower curtain. They have a nice pool, playground, camp store, golf course and a shelter where they have entertainment occasionally. Most of the time it is very quiet, except there is a set of train tracks right next to the campground. Trains come through regularly. They don’t blow their whistle, which is nice, but they do travel fast and the rumbling is a bit loud. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. We stayed in a 5th wheel, so we turned on the fan and left it running all night long, which did help cover some of the noise of the train. The sites aren’t extremely spacious, but they aren’t crammed tight either. They do have a boat parking area and a marina right across the road, so it would be a great place to stay with boating access to the Mississippi River. With all the water around (ponds, lakes and the river), we had no problem with mosquitos or flies. The campground is so popular, that they are adding another section with more seasonal sites. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it very much.
