Redwood meadows is what it is called now
We love it here. Safe, clean, so spacious and the best staff. Will be here for 6 months
Large sites in beautiful environment
Late arrivers (or sunday afternoon) will have to decide which site to take based upon envelopes that are available.
At this moment of time (begin april), a lot of trees and bushes have been cut to clear the view (or they were just taking to much space).
The restrooms look clean (so opposite review of july 2015). Showers are token operated (not handy if the office is closed and phone is not answered).
The wifi is very good (we had site B8). The login code was not mentioned in one of the envelops that were available (we did not make a reservation). By coinsidence a person walked on the park and knew the code.
Minor detail cable tv should give 60 channels. Our tv found 47, but it was raining badly! Due to the weather there was a lot of snow/noise on tv which is not to be expected when using the cable.
There is an impressive amount of washing machines in the laundy ($1.25 per time).
Very nicely located next to 199.
Campground has been changed to a new owner, I think, as the name has been changed to Redwood Meadows RV Resort.
Price is for motorhome with 30amphs.
Will not go back until they clean this place up!
Very disappointed , and it wasn't worth the cost. Great location, close to Redwoods, Smith River, Crescent City, etc. But the park is in shambles. All the dumpsters were overflowing with garbage, the laundry room is filthy, some RV sites (occupied) were very unsightly with lots of junk, bikes, motorcycles, kids toys, etc., scattered everywhere. There were 3 RVs in our party, and when we made the reservations, we had asked for sites close together. We even called the night prior to our arrival to confirm, and we were reassured that our sites were next to one another. When we arrived, this was not the case, and we were given all kinds of excuses. Not a big deal, but another example of poor management. Apparently it is for sale again, after just one year of current ownership. Hope someone with some sense buys it!!
Awesome Part of California
We have stayed here twice over the years and have enjoyed it both times. We found it in our Trailer Life Directory as we were passing through in 2005. We fell in love with Jedediah Smith State & National Park and went back in August 2010.
The park is a bit older and some of their spots are a little tight for big rigs but I had minimal difficulty getting ours in. The folks in the office were very helpful with local information and the rate was reasonable.
In our opinion the most majestic Redwoods in California are just a short drive from this RV Park. Make sure you drive the road to Stout Grove. It is a 6 mile drive right though the heart of a fabulous grove of Redwoods.
Hiouchi is a great place to stay while enjoying the beauty and is also less than 10 miles from Crescent City and the Pacific Ocean.
