Nice for our first trip.

The wife, dog, and I decided to make this park our first foray into Rv'ing. We were very pleased with the park. The sites are clean, and well maintained. The restroom and shower's were clean as well. Being raised close to an actual gulf coast beach really made the white sands of the "river" beach seem odd. The beach areas are nice with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the river. We mostly sat outside and relaxed listening to soft music and saying hi to all that walked by. We will return in August and probably do a little tubing and maybe take a canoe trip. We will definitely check out the nature trail. The park rangers are very nice and helpful. My only concern was the nonstop barking of a small dog across the way from us. Wow, I didn't know a dog could bark like that for hours at a time! But they were there with their grandkids and I did not wish to spoil the time they had with them so we decided to let it ride. Like I said, we will be back – many times!

We stayed from 7/15/2012 - 7/21/2012

This is by FAR the best State Park campground around! It's so refreshing to be able to go jump into the cold water of Blackwater River and not come out sticky with salt like you'd get at the beach. They keep this campground immaculate! The rest rooms are always clean, the park rangers are awesome and the hiking trails are easy to follow. You can even take your own float up the hiking trail to the main beach and float back to the campground if you wish. I can't say enough great things about this place!

Pure white-sand beach and iconic river trails in the forest!

I must say we were very happy with this stop. This is a smallish campground within the State Park which is in turn completely surrounded by the huge Blackwater River State Forest. As such you have miles and miles of nature all around you and the place feels very remote and relaxed. What makes this spot extra special is Blackwater River itself which is a beautiful and iconic canoeing/kayaking trail lined with banks of pure quartz white sand. It’s beach in the forest and very unique! In the campground itself sites are large, perfectly flat, nicely separated and with full-hookups. You can swim on the “official” beach-site a short walk from camp or take doggie to walk and play along the other beach-banks all along the river. We could easily have spent more time here and would definitely come back.
