In the bayou
This park has water water everywhere. There is a 'pond' across from the campgrounds; I'd call it a swamp. A branch of the Calcasieu River runs along the edge of the park. And, as a result, there are lots of mosquitos, even in February. Perhaps it is the mild winter, but I certainly didn't expect 'squiters at this time of the year.
We camped in campground 2. The sites are close together for a state park; more like a private park's siting. There is room for a slideout, but it's snug. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Paved road, gravel site, except for the 2 handicapped sites.
Nice restrooms; look new. Weird registration system--we came in without a reservation, but we still had to pay a $6 Reserve America fee in addition to the regular fee!
