Traveler Tips

Nearest grocery store is Brookshire Brothers in Coldspring. Elaine's is a good restaurant in Coldspring and offers WiFi. This park is located about 30 miles, perhaps a bit more but less than 50, from Livingston.

Quiet and pretty campground

The best feature about this campground is the paved walkway around the lake--it's particularly pretty in the early morning hours.

We've stayed here many times and really enjoy the park. It's nestled among the forest and is very quiet. The park hosts have always been very nice, too.

If you're entering the park at night, the entrance from the highway is not well lit which makes it hard to find, so drive slowly. Best time to visit (in our opinion) is either in the spring or fall.

Better in the Fall and Winter!

This is one of our favorite places to spend time, although we prefer it in the Fall and Winter when temperatures cool down. Located just outside the town of Coldspring, TX, this is a heavily wooded campground near a lake. The July stay was our third here and we had "our" site again, #36. Nice large pull-thru with FHU, but a bit unlevel side-to-side. Most fire rings have grills on them. Peaceful, scenic and quiet with a very nice walking trail around the lake. The park manager is very helpful and friendly. Restrooms are clean. There is no WiFi but Elaine's Restaurant in Coldspring just up Hwy 150 has free WiFi and the chocolate meringue pie is yummy! Nice for a serene break but plenty for the kids to do, too! Swimming and fishing are both allowed in the lake. We'll be back!
