Brand New Really Nice Park

Very new, very nice and very well maintained with paved pad for rv and gravel for your vehicle. We stayed on a large lot in the new "Lakes" section. Very good utility service, lots of great paved paths to walk your dogs and fire rings on each site. They even had pet waste bags and disposal stations throughout. Upon arrival we were greeted by 6 resident sandhill cranes. Very cool! There were small gators in the lakes and lots of turtles. We were provided with a modem for cable, but since our stay was short we didn't bother using it because we needed different connectors. Very close to a superwalmart and route 75, but distinct country feel. Many well kept or brand new rvs throughout the park and they get permanent seasonal visitors. This is probably the only drawback because they do not have sites available usually from late November to April for daytrippers since they're booked with snowbirds. They even have a small camp store with essentials. We checked out other rv sites in the area, and this one has the most natural feel.

Very Pleasant Combo of Old Florida with Modern Recreation Complex

We're brand new to rv'ing and this was our first stop. Got a great rate with Passport America and management assigned us a nice site that was dry for a beginner, but with nice lake views. This is an older park with some permanent residents, but all sites are clean and neat and there are upgrades being planned for concrete pads. Some have already been installed. This is a wooded piney park with lots of dripping Spanish moss right on the Myakka River. The roads are narrow, but we managed fine. There were even a few big rigs camping near us. It's very quiet off-season which was what we were seeking. I imagine it's very busy in winter because there are 600 sites. What's great is the recreation complex in front. Beautiful large new pool with hot tub, showers, tons of lovely new chairs and shaded lounge areas. It even has an adjoining splash park which we tried out even though we're 50 something! There's horseshoe pits, a giant chess game, and a putting green. Weekly activities are few off- season, water aerobics, cards etc. There is a river dock with fish cleaning station. The location is about 12 minutes to the island of Venice and its lovely beaches and historic downtown. We had the wrong propane line, so we dined out at Brewburgers - great sandwich and burger joint nearby. Snook Haven is 2 minutes away for old Florida menu. We had dinner at sister restaurant Sharkys on the Venice Pier and it was really good with nice service. Also caught a quick $10 lunch at Ristorante San Marco that was outstanding. Venice is very quaint. It was really pleasant to meet so many nice people, both at the park and the tourist areas. My only caution would be the Florida wildlife. Look out for fire ant mounds, a common Florida problem in a sandy area. There was a very small resident gator, but he was very shy. It's very easy to bring your dogs and walk around the park.

Very Pleasant with nice new amenities

Older Florida RV park with a mix of permanent residents and rv campers. Beautiful new pool complex, splash park, horseshoe pits, putting green, and fitness center. Sites are mostly sandy grass, but they are advertising upgrades and there are some concrete pads. Trails are narrow and the park is large. Really nice at this time of year because it is off season. There is a dock and boat launch on the river with fish cleaning station. Beware of fire ants and a resident gator or too although we did not meet him. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. The location is about 15 minutes from the island of Venice and the beaches for a change of pace if needed. Full hookup sites, but wifi was not provided. We used our cellphones as hotspots with no problem. I liked the old Florida feel of the park which admittedly is unlike the front recreational area. Several staff people worked daily to maintain the property.
