Traveler Tips

Avoid clouds of mosquitos near stagnant marsh on eastside. Southside is near active gravel quarry and asphalt plant, with industrial noise commencing at dawn. Northside is close to agricultural fields, which are subject to aerial insecticide spraying.

Very nice KOA

Very nice KOA. Helpful & friendly staff. Sites are level and not too close to one another. Would definitely return.

Great park - if you don't invite visitors

The park is large, well-kept throughout and has numerous amenities at no charge. There is a small lake with catch and release fishing allowed and available paddle boats. Cable and internet access are good. Satellite line of site good. Sites are gravel but solid. It is a great place to camp if you are not planning to have visitors. I would have rated the campground 5 stars, but for the following: We wanted to invite my wife's brother & Sister & their spouses for lunch during our stay.
We learned too late that a $10/person charge - $40 - would be assessed for them to come to our camp site for a couple hours. The charge was not disclosed at the time the reservation was made or at check-in. I found it as a single sentence in their campground brochure after we were parked. I felt this was an unfair and exorbitant charge. I understand other campgrounds charge for visitors but often enforce those primarily for larger groups to preclude people inviting many visitors and abusing the amenities. I can support that fully. I had asked to have the owners contact me, but the office manager told me 'those are the rules' and the owners would say the same thing. The owners did not contact me. Sadly, the consequence of the charge and unwillingness of the management to budge was that we terminated our stay and went to a visitor friendly campground nearby. The long term consequence is the probability of KOA losing my future business.

Nice spot for an overnight

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $51.00

We really only used this park as a stop along the way home at the end of a trip. We had very good service from the friendly staff and they went out of their way to select a site that would allow us to use our satellite (no obstructions). We needed to do laundry, and found the facilities really nice and clean. We are 2 women and we felt very safe in the area and inside the campground. You can tell they take good care of the grounds and keep the place spotless. We were here in mid-Sept 2016 and they did ask us not to put a rug on the grass since they were trying to let it grow. That was not an issue as it was dry and we were only staying 1 night. Our pull-through site was level and we had full hook-ups. I'd stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We camped at Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA in a 25' Motorhome with our tow vehicle (42' overall) and didn't have to unhook.

Disappointed

This is a nice clean park and nice people work here, the grass is lovely for the area. However, the internet WiFi is not good they have several routers to get on with but all are very slow.. The charging of $10 to any visitors through their security gates complete with guard does two things, takes your money and makes you either feel secure or like you have just crossed over into Germany in WWII. Our case was not the first. Rules for everything to the extreme, rules are good just not so extreme. The paying up front is odd to us we have been through several states and most are not KOA so paying in advance and being charged for cancellation not 48 hours in advance seems excessive. Or you will be charged a $10 fee regardless.. Again with fees and regulations. We felt this really takes the fun out of a vacation, we moved on sooner than expected just because of the NAZI feel this place had. Their amenities just aren't that special. We will not stay at KOA anymore.. We like a little freedom with our fun. When traveling in an RV who knows 3 days in advance what you will do, kind of the point to the RV. We paid full price for a day we didn't use just to get out. Not recommended to stay here.

Fort Collins Lakeside

This was a nice park. Well maintained with level pads. Wide roads throughout. This is a great place to stay for a night or longer. I would stay here again.

Only Decent Place in FC and Worth the Expense

We went to Fort Collins to look for property in the mountains nearby, and this was the best option to stay at. Don't mess around with any of the other parks. If you want to be close to town (the Pouder River is next to the park and you can pedal to Old Town Fort Collins), and a nice place to come home to, this KOA is worth the expense.

Mind you, we aren't normally KOA campers, but since the only other choice in Fort Collins was this or the hillbilly trailer park down the road that nearly fried our electrical system, we moved to this park and love it. Big spaces, wide streets, a pool, halfway decent workout room and elbow room. One of the nicest urban camping parks we've been to.
