McDowell Nature Preserve Campground

McDowell Nature Preserve on Lake Wylie is Terrific!

We spent 5 nights here in June, 2014. Reservations are easy to book on-line. We were traveling in a 34' RV and pulled a jeep. While there are no sewer hookups, there is a convenient dump site. The showers are cleaned daily. The showers are individual locking rooms that have a shower, toilet, sink, and nice hooks for your belongings. There is a picnic table, fire pit, and trash can (also emptied daily) at each RV site. We had a paved pull-through site. The sites are amidst the trees and just beautiful. There are lots of really nice marked walking trails which our dog loved. Yes, they are very pet friendly! There is firewood and ice for sale at the entry gate. The people running the info booth at the gate were sooooo nice! My ONLY complaint is our site wasn't real level. However, the staff at the front gate gave us some wooden blocks to use during our stay. We are rookie RVers and this is the best site we have stayed at yet! We truly loved this RV Park! We will be back!
