Not what it used to be
I have been to Lonesome D numerous times since 2005. When we first started going to Lonesome D, it appeared to be growing and really getting off the ground. There was even plans to build a bunkhouse.
I was greatly disappointed in the condition of the camp this time. The Cafe was never open. We could never purchase ice - we had to drive up the road to the store. There were only a couple of other groups staying at the camp grounds. When talking to the other campers, they indicated that they couldn't believe how little attention the place was being given.
This is such a wonderful place to ride and very reasonably priced. So much more could be done to make people want to come back. If the Cafe were only open for 2-3 hours in the morning for breakfast and have someone to sell ice would be very helpful.
I really hope something is done to improve Lonesome D because some of my group is talking about not wanting to going back.
