Great Lake Views

The RV sites are terraced into a hill so that most of the sites have a great view of Lake Mead. All of the hookups worked, the sites were a reasonable size and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Ranger Tony put on slide shows based on the interest of the groups and was a wealth of knowledge about the local area and the building of Hoover Dam.

Nice Park, Great Location

We stop here a couple of times per year. It's about a days drive from our home and the easiest way to get into the mountains. The sites are paved and level with the standard hookups. There is a little stream that runs on the edge of the park that is damed to form a duck pond. Due to the abundance of water the showers are first rate. If you are used to the skimpy showers in the RV and water restrictions at the desert campgrounds, these are a real treat. During the summer it can get hot in Bishop, on our last trip the air conditioner couldn't keep up with the heat so we took the dog, piled in the car and went up the mountain until we found a reasonable temperature.

The other Texas

The campground lies between the main street and the river, it was green and full of trees. The campground was a mixture of houses, mobile homes and travel trailers. The overnight sites are located next to the road, traffic noise was a bit of a problem and the all-night gas station across the street was pretty bright. The people were friendly and the facilities were great. We stopped to do the laundry and then came back to use the indoor pool. A couple oddities we observed were that they were closed on Sundays and didn't take credit cards.

Western Texas Trails

This is the Texas most people think of. I guess if you were coming from the east, the terrain would be unusual, having lived in the desert for 30 years we tend to look for green grass and trees. The campground was nice, off the road enough so that we didn't hear the traffic. They had a great little cafe where we ate breakfast before hitting the road.

Great View Sites

We are partial to KOA's because of the consistently good WiFi connections. This campground had good connectivity plus a great view of Las Cruces. It sits on a hill overlooking the valley. The premium sites allow you to back in and view the valley from your rig. We selected a pull-through because we had only planned to stay one day. We enjoyed the town, epically the old town called Mesilla and stayed an extra day.

Tombstone Travels

The park was located on the outskirts of town, had larger sites than the in town RV parks, but we had to drive into town. Parking in the downtown area was hard to find during the off season in the middle of the week. The campground had some trees which would provide shade during the summer, however they were still missing leaves during our visit. Our site was level and all of the connections worked. The park was a little rustic, but well within reason.

Good Road Stop

We stopped on our way back from a two week trip through Texas. The overnight spots were close to the highway and could have been a little quieter. The sites were level and all of the connections worked. The layout would have been crowded if they were all occupied, but since it was an off time they spaced us out. They could have used a dog run.

A Suprize

We had never thought of staying in Hemet, but a FMC rally made us believers and we are looking forward to our next visit. All of the facilities were first class, except for the shuffleboard, which was beyond belief.
