Disappointed - Chief Timothy Park
We stayed at Chief Timothy Park Mother's Day weekend with extended family. The weather was hot and there were some nice trees for shade. The restrooms were clean and nice. The biggest drawback was that they had not watered so the grass was very dry and combined with the pine needles that had not been cleaned up around the table made for a lot of mess tracked in the camper. Our online information stated that checkout time was 2:00PM but the camp hosts told us Sunday morning that we had to be gone by noon or we would be charged an additional day. What a disappointment as nothing was said at check-in and we had planned to stay through lunch. The lady was less than polite with her treatment of another member or our group. Needless to say we left and noon and don't plan to camp here again any time soon. They did drive through the campsites frequently (every 20 minutes) and checked to make sure water was working for folks but nice grounds would have made for a nicer visit. If they were changing check-out time this should have been posted in all restrooms and perhaps a flyer at check in time. I hope others have a better experience.
Good place to stay for a night or longer
We stayed here 3 days. There is a nice swimming area on the river. The water felt good. In the summer there is also huge blackberry bushes where we picked a half gallon to take with us, and ate nearly as much. The negative here is the sprinklers are evil, and run every Mon, Wed, Fri. They are a real pain. The sites are reservable using recreation.org. Despite what that site says they don't charge extra person fees, unless you have more than six people.
This a good place to go if you need RV work or parts. Nearby in Clarkson is Kruegers RV where they are very good. Ask for Jason who is the parts manager, he is a straight shooter.
