Port in a storm

The people in the office were very nice and friendly. They allowed us to park and setup and come back later to check in. We stopped here as we couldn't proceed into California. Fires, wind and power outages prevented us from crossing the border and continuing on. The park is clean, well keep, and nestled in a little canyon right across from the harbor. It's close proximity to the town allows you access to everything if you're driving. If you crave Mexican food, it's a walk across the street. Seems like a lot of mobile home spots that are permanent residents. WiFi at the back of the park is almost nonexistent. But closer to the office it works well. Dog areas are mostly gravel on the side of the parks circle drive. The laundry and restrooms were very clean. The entire park is pretty much paved or concreted. There is another RV park just down the street, but this one seems nicer due to the high canyon walls. Had full hookups, and was quiet. We were at the far back, a pull-thru. It was windy during the evening, and even though we were at the back of the park, we did experience some rocking. No road noise at all.
I'd stay again if I was in town.
If I wanted ambiance, I'd head up the coast to Sea Perch RV Park in Yachats. But they're $98 a night.

Nice place to stay...

There seem to be quite a few long term residents here, but there is lots of space for us overniters too. The roads and sites are gravel, but level and wide. There are quite a few pull thrus with plenty of room for your tow. The bathrooms and showers are clean and there is a laundry as well. The folks here are very pleasant and helpful. I had some issues hooking up as
the water did not work, but they sorted it out very quickly for me. The wifi was great, no issues! The overall condition of the park is clean but needs a little paint here and there. I love hearing the wind blow they think leaves.... There are Large trees at most sites which makes a pleasant environment but can also be a hindrance to your satellite dish. Had I backed up a bit my dish probably would have had a good path, but I had already set up and was not going to move.
(They have a LOT of DVDs in the office!). Not sure if they are for rent or general use... We always bring own own when we travel. 50 amp is available, water pressure is good! Septic drains are a size smaller than the ones for my Valterra hookups, but I managed. Tables are provided at the sites and are in great condition. Park is Located just west of town, off the 60, but no road noise! Safeway, gas stations and other stores are about 2 miles away. Nice play to stay, we would come back!

Almost there.....

First off, the people there are terrific ! Friendly, helpful, and willing to help. As they have large trees in most of the sites, I was concerned about satellite reception. So they showed me 2 spots and let me chose my spot. I really did not need to worry as the parking in all the sites are "aligned" with the direction the dish needs to be pointed. The roads and sites are all gravel, but level and wide! I could park my car alongside my RV. Hookups were in good condition and easy to use. The restrooms are clean and the laundry room well equipped. The office has a lounge area with sofas, tables, and pool tables. Actually like the last review said, it looks more like a western museum inside. Lots of knick knacks. There is a small water fountain with a fish pond under some trees with a seating area by the entrance to the park. Overall the place is like a small oasis. There appear to be some long term residents, but their spots look clean and well cared for. There is also a dog run in the back. And for those traveling with horses.... They have stables available for rent as well. By the way, Wifi worked great!! Side note, they only take cash or check, no CC. They are pretty well located for site-seeing to the Indian pueblos and wildlife refuge parks. Ok, now the negatives.
There are a few. One.... no store, no propane. This park is quite a ways from everything so I would like to see at least ice offered for sale. Two.... No tables at the sites. I had to cook with my BBQ sitting on the ground, while I sat on a log. Finally, not the parks fault, but easy access to the freeway means there is a lot of traffic noise day and night. Not considering the noise, but if they had ice, and picnic tables, or some sort of table to place a small BBQ on, I would have given them 5 ??s. All in all, considering everything, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we are in the area.

A Gem in Rudioso Downs!

The people are absolutely terrific! Friendly, helpful, they provided history of the area, suggested places to visit, and also provided us the local newspaper so we could see what was going on. The store is large and well equipped with RV supplies, food, ice. The park has paved roads, and the sites are gravel, but pretty wide, and pull thrus! (We were able to park our car next to the coach with the slides open). Hookups were easy to reach and water pressure was excellent. The bathrooms and showers are clean. For those who need it, 50 amp is available, and cable TV hookup is also provided. And Wifi was the best I have experienced. We stayed for 3 days and never had a problem ! We were at the back of the park and reception was terrific! Good size trees were at most of the sites and still satellite dish reception was great! It's a clean, quiet park, that is located close outside of town. We would recommend this park to anyone, and we would stay here any time we come through.

Looks better in the daylight.....

We arrived in the last afternoon. And it was off road so my wife was a bit apprehensive. It was also hard to find, (my fault), as I did not recognize I8-BL on my GPS as "business loop". So I made a couple of wrong turns before getting there. Checked in and the people were very friendly, and led us to our site. Gravel roads and spaces, but pretty level. Hookups were easy, and in good shape. 50 amp available too. Looks line most spots are pull thru with plenty of room to leave your tow attached.
Has trees at almost every spot, most small to medium size, but they will get bigger. I saw a good irrigation system everywhere. Park is well cared for, clean, even has some satellite dishes in some spots. Not sure if those are part of the spot or an extra charge, (you might ask). We have a dish attached so I didn't. Large restrooms and showers at back of park. We were there for just one night, on our trip but I'd return. Could use a larger variety of items for sale in the store, but the town is only a mile or so away. I'd give them another ?? if the WiFi worked.

I agree, but.....

I read and agree with the other 2 reviews. Clean, paved, friendly people, nice amenities, (observatory was closed for repairs), has trees, and is close to everything. There is even a Safeway and the Largest Ace Hardware I have ever seen just behind in walking distance. But after all the compliments.... How come no one mentioned the trains that run thru day and night??? Not the fault of the park, of course, but those whistles, WOW!! Like Johnny Cash sang, "I can hear those trains a coming!!"

It's a bit cramped and not a resort type environment

Centrally located, as far as our trip is concerned. We chose to stay overnight at this location. Right off the business route 97, it's between an aqueduct and next to a set of older buildings.. Appts.?? It's a small park. The roads are gravel, the sites are not particularly level. Our friends needed to move their class A so as to be able to level their coach. The laundry is large and clean, and there is a small store on site in the office with the normal items you find in all locales. People are friendly and helpful. They do sell propane and have 2 gas pumps in the front of the store. The sites are narrow, the grass is hit and miss. (Either green or mixed with a bit brown.) The park seems quiet, except for the planes flying overhead. I think there is a base located somewhere close. There are 2 pet areas, one gravel, one grass that could use some work, and water. It has a pool, area for tents, and a combination of back-ins and pull-thrus. Overall, I'd stay here again, of I were traveling thru. It just doesn't have the the space, and ambience you like if you are on vacation. But we are just staying overnite.

A quiet clean oasis

We were traveling thru, and stayed here just one night. But we have already marked it as the spot we will make as our "base" when we return to further explore the area. The park is just off Hiway 101, but very quiet. Dirt roads, no ruts, pads are either grass, or grass / dirt combo but pretty level. (Use blocks when leveling). The entire park is covered with trees so don't expect your satellite to work, but there is cable available. Full hookups including 50 amp are available. I did not try the wifi so can't tell you how that works. People are very friendly and courteous. There is a small store on site, clean bathrooms and showers. People were trimming trees, and mowing. The park appears to be well kept. Trash cans are convienently located. Drive slow, in the park as it is populated with rabbits! White, black, brown, and combos in between! My wife loved them, and they seem pretty tame. Just a few miles south of Tillamook, the park is a good location to stay, close to local sites. Don't miss the Point Meares lighthouse and the Octopus tree!
We will return!!

Terrific Park with a good location

It was a great place to spend a few days. The park is well maintained, with paved roads and sites. Not all sites are 100% level, but are wide enough for a RV with slides on both sides. (We were in a class A with a tow). Don't expect your satellite to work as the sites are fully surrounded by trees. But there is cable available. Wi fi worked pretty well, easy to connect, and pretty good speed considering the potential traffic. Facilities included a pool, spa, store, and even a pizza place on site which delivers to your site! $12 for a 12 inch pizza, no limit on toppings! People were courteous, and friendly, and busy!!! Besides picking up your trash very morning, they were constantly mowing, trimming, and cleaning. We used the laundry facilities which were both large, 8 washers and 8 dryers in just one of 3 three facilities. The park is quiet, with security as you enter and leave. The park is closely located to Astoria, (about 12 minutes away by road and small bridge. It is also right across from Fort Stevens State park. Take time and visit, we enjoyed it. Beach access, an old shipwreck and historical fort emplacements. There is a Costco, and Fred Meyer close by, both with gas stations an RV can get in and out of easily. We were here for 2 days and would return again! We paid $63 a night. $53 for the park, $2 pet fee, and. $8 resort fee.

It was a place to stop that was off the highway...

We picked this location as it was close to the freeway, and was past most of the town as our direction was west, heading home. The park is situated in a highly industrial area, which posed a problem both entering and leaving, due to the number of large trucks using this frontage road. Their ads all say "newly remodeled", I just don't see it. or at least don't get it. The place looks in need of some general maintenance, and housekeeping. the people in the office were friendly, and led us to our camp., but I just didn't feel at home. There were a lot of spaces that look like seasonal, permanent visitors. It was July, and the heat has done it's job on the vegetation in the park, mostly brown, the grass sparse. The roads were paved, but a bit narrow on the turns. The pads were concrete, and long enough to handle my rig, (38foot, and toad). The hookups were loose, and needed anchoring to the posts. Electrical looked a bit unsafe, but I had no problem. There are some large trees on the property to provide shade to some spaces. the office had no store, or ice. I found a Pilot down the freeway, (westbound about 3 miles) where I got gas, and ice. There was free Wi-fi, and it did work. Overall, nothing special other than its proximity to the Freeway. They have facilities, restroom, showers, laundromat, but we did not spend any time to investigate the condition of them. they do accept pets, but there was no specific area designated as a dog walk area. They are a Good Sam member. Woodall gave them a W W W W, but I just don't see it. We left early the next day and would not return again. Next time I'll drive a bit further. At the very least, some more research is needed first.
