Great vacation!

I'm hesitant to say too much for fear it will make it harder to go back because too many people will find this place. We camped in the Live Oaks campground in site #121. I wouldn't recommend it for a larger than 30' RV because it would be nearly impossible to get it in or out. It's also a bad spot if it rains because of the grade that site has. But, it's very private. Mosquitos are bad, but tolerable if you have a fan. The beach is AWESOME and is a very short drive from the campground. Parking was easy. Never a large crowd at the beach. Lots of shells. Very relaxing. Already booked next years trip, but at the ocean front campground.

on the beach

There are two parts to Edisto beach S.P. the main part is on the beach. The other is inland by just a mile but not on the island. Beachside is nice but a bit cramped with little separation of sites, but it is just a short walk and you are on the beach. yes it is a nice beach.. The inland campground is also nice if you don't need the beach, parking for our 24 class c was very nice as this spot is not as congested as the beach sites. There was a piggly wiggly at the entrance of the beach park and several nice places to eat in walking distance...Bathrooms are rather old and damp but were clean I shall return... Happy Trails... We had a pretty good time at Edisto Beach. We were in site #23. Here's the good and bad of the park.

Good:
- great view of the ocean
- you could hear the waves all night :)
- great area of beach
- lots of shells to comb through
- very pet friendly. Almost every site we passed had at 1-6 dogs, and one even had a cat on a leash.

Bad
- lots of smaller roads to get to this park which isn't good for a 27' camper
- on the way to this park there are lots of big beautiful oaks...which are almost touching the road which makes for white knuckles on the steering wheel.
- our spot had no trees which meant no hammock
- TERRIBLE WATER!!!!!!! Imaging water from a new garden hose with sweetener added. It's worse than that.
- bath house at the beach area was old and needed updating
- winding, dirt roads in the park
- dump station is at another location and is cramped and more dirty than the usual dump station.

Wonderful!

This is a wonderful campground. We were close to the beach. Sites are spacious. Some have low hanging trees which may not be so good for higher RV’s. Sites are level; most are back in. Didn’t particularly like the water; we used our bottled water when we were there. We were in campsite 23, the 2nd best campsite in the park. We bicycled all over the island and bought shrimp from a local shrimper. There is a store just outside the park. Very convenient.
