Best of both worlds...

Pros: great location to explore both the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone; 2 miles from South entrance to Yellowstone; nice camp store, fuel station, gift shop, restaurant, and visitor's center; hook-ups include water, electric, and sewer; quiet; modern conveniences while being remote; one of only campgrounds we found with hook-ups

Cons: muddy when it rains with potholes; confusing lay-out; expensive; no wifi, cable, or cell service; tight turns for big rigs; sewer connections are a bit odd but useable

Overall, we felt this was in a great location for what we wanted to do. We love to be remote, but we also like the conveniences of water, electric, and sewage. The other things were not a big deal to us. After all, we came here expecting to be off the grid, so to speak. We stayed in a 40' 5th wheel and would stay again. From what we saw, it really is the best campground in the area if you want hook-ups.

Place to lay your head

Friendly owners/staff... Lots of gravel and dust... Nice camp store... Heated pool... Cable was good...Highway noise... Would stay again if passing thru and wanted to get off the road

Got the job done...

Very nice owners and staff... Dusty, gravel, and packed in like sardines... Also could smell the sewage at times and there was a gas odor from a nearby plant that would sweep down... Was concerned at first that it was in the campground but they assured me it was coming from the plant on the hill... In a convenient location... Also the entrance to the campground sneaks up on you and is a little tight... Decent place to stay a couple of nights

A True Gem!

Emerald Beach RV Park is one of our favorite places to visit. We initially went there for 4 days over Spring Break to get out of our harsh Winter. We loved it so much, we made plans to return for the entire summer. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The sites are nice, not huge but room enough. We loved the private beach area, the pier, the pool, and the swing. We were there over the 4th of July and you could see the fireworks from the private beach, plus the campground had a band and activities in the rec hall. The campground is also conveniently located between Destin and Pensecola. I am a cyclist, so I would go over the bridge and cycle all the way to Pensecola and back. There's not much traffic on that road and it is only 40 mph most of the way because of the protected bird area. I also found an excellent Crossfit Gym, Crossfit Navarre, not too far away. I met a lot of really nice people at the gym and in the campground that have become life long friends. The rates are very reasonable when compared to other beach RV parks, and there are some nice restaurants in the area. We especially recommend East River BBQ. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Decent Place to Overnight

The owner is super friendly. He does take pride in his property. It is a fairly small campground and the sites are a little tight but manageable for our 40' 5th wheel. There really is not much to the area and it was HOT, but it was just off the interstate at exit 19. My husband got attacked and stung by some hornets as we plugged into the electric box. The owner was quick to come to the rescue with some spray and was pondered by how there were hornets since someone just stayed overnight in our site. Sites are all gravel and pretty dusty. Nothing special but a good place to get off the road... Plus it always makes for a pleasant experience when the owners/ staff are so nice! We would stay here again if passing thru.

RV Haven

This was a very nice RV Park. The park was nicely laid out. The sites were all paved, spacious and great pull-thru length. The utility boxes were very efficient and lit up at night. The property was fenced with a security gate. The staff were very friendly and polite. Although we didn't have an opportunity to check it out, there was a nice pool and next door was a BBQ place. We can't say enough good things about this RV Park.

Historical Charm

We loved this area! The campground was basically a huge RV parking lot, but it had lots of space and the concrete pads were very accommodating. We loved the Katy Trail and had we been staying longer than overnight, we would have enjoyed some long bike rides on it. We did walk the trail down to St. Charles (about 2 miles/4 round trip) and explored the charm of this historical town. We felt like we had stepped back in time with the brick road and architectural influences. We wish we had time to check out the Lewis and Clark Trail nearby. The people were very friendly, as well. The only drawback was that it was pricey. We paid $52 for the night. However, this little overnight stop on our journey was one of the most memorable overnighters that we've experienced while in route to a destination.

Off the Beaten Path

This was a very small campground. They only have one pull-thru, of which we secured. We did have full hook-ups with 50 amp. There were no tv channels but we weren't bothered by that, and they had open wifi though I didn't try it. We have a 40' 5th wheel and the campground is not really designed for big rigs, although we didn't have any problem maneuvering. We were a little concerned about our weight as we drove over a creek bridge to leave, but it didn't collapse... Lol... Most of the RVers in the campground appear to be permanents. However, everyone was really nice and the owners take very good care of the property. There was a section for tent campers and they had cute little bunk houses, as well. There appeared to be some trails for hiking and mountain biking, but we were only there overnight and didn't get to explore any of that. It is true rustic, mountain camping (and I mean this in a good way) with fresh mountain air. It was only 4 miles off I-40 and is worth a short stay :)

Hidden Gem

We called Lazy Acres home for 2 weeks. We found it to be peaceful and quiet, and contrary to some other reviews really didn't notice the racetrack noise at all. The regional airport is nearby and we sometimes heard the small planes but it was no bother. The staff were very polite and helpful. The sand was a minor issue. We kept a second hose by the front door. The laundry facilities could use some updating. However, the worst problem was the ants! The staff spray a commercial grade spray frequently, but the ants were just everywhere outside, even on the lawn chairs by the pool. Now for the secret that I hesitate to give away: site # 23 was the best site in the campground and it was our site. It was very spacious, huge concrete patio, nice firepit, nicely landscaped and somewhat private, on the end, and had enough parking for 2 vehicles. Security was also good in this campsite, not that they needed it. We camped here in a 40' 5th wheel and would definitely stay at Lazy Acres again:)

Nice State Park

We actually really liked this State Park. The recreation is great with lots of trails for running and mountain biking, and there is a boat launch. However, we stayed here 2 weeks and were unable to get a site with full hookups, which made it challenging to not fill our tanks before leaving, as we used the public bath facilities. The main drawback though was that we probably had the muddiest site in the park. The only paved sites are for handicap accessibility. The price was good though. We were also told that they offer a 25% discount in season for active duty military and a 50% discount out of season for retired military. We will stay here again, as we made note of the better sites. Overall, it's not a bad place to spend a week.
